Congratulations Rishab Kumar on being Babylon Crossfit’s Member of the Month for October!

A Word From Our Coaches…

“Rishab’s resilience is something to look up to. Always showing up, always doing his best to listen to the coaches, and doing so with a smile. Seeing where he started to where he is now is inspiring….” – Coach Corey

“Ever since I met Rish he always wanted to improve. He is not afraid to ask questions, and always makes time to come in for a great workout. His main goal from the day he walked in was to do his best and that’s what he does every day! I love seeing his progress and getting to know him. Couldn’t think of anyone better for this than him!” – Coach Matt

“Coaching and watching Rish throughout the last few months has BEEN AWESOME. The biggest win I see as a coach for him has been his progress in mobility and squatting. He’s never afraid to take on our progressions and is extremely coachable. I also just love to yell hello to him every morning cause he normally just woke up and came to the gym. Literally every time HI RISHHHH! Super proud of your progress and love having you a part of our community.” – Coach Trish

About Rish…

Most frequent class time and how many days/week do you Crossfit?
Started off with 9 am but lately trying to wake up early for 8 am. Will occasionally dabble with the 6 pm class on off days so I can sleep in!

What was your fitness background before you started at Babylon Crossfit?
I didn’t really have a fitness background before joining CrossFit. At most I would take some leisurely strolls after meals but didn’t exert much physical energy until CrossFit.

What accomplishment are you the proudest of (outside and inside of the gym)?
Inside: PR’ing my lifts, learning double unders, wall walks, improving my form in lifts, and just getting into fitness overall. Before Crossfit, I didn’t have much motivation to work out or go to the gym. Now I look forward to attending class, and feel guilty on days I’m not able to make it.

Outside: Improving my overall nutrition and eating healthier. Crossfit definitely influences me to eat healthier because I want to improve my overall health from all aspects and I have been lowering the amount of weekly cheat meals and snacks. I’m also proud of being a healthcare worker during the pandemic and helping so many people who suffered from this horrible infection. As a frontline worker, I was able to make an impact in so many lives and that was a great feeling!

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?
2-3 eggs, a banana, and protein waffles, along with a mocha protein shake!

What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?
– Relaxing in my bed, sleeping, and watching TV/Netflix
– Travelling and exploring new cities/countries
– Exploring new restaurants and trying different kinds of food (I love seafood)

What do you do for a living?
I’m a Pediatric Pharmacist currently working at NY Presbyterian Hospital. I specialize in pediatric intensive care, as well as pediatric oncology/BMT (bone marrow transplant).

What is one goal that you are currently working on?
Unbroken double unders during WODs. Also trying to work on pushups, kipping pull-ups, and eventually handstand pushups.

Favorite WOD?
Annie is probably one of my favorites. I also love high-intensity cardio workouts combined with lifting, basically anything that involves running/jump roping specifically. I’m not good at running, so I like to torture myself during the runs.

Favorite Cheat Meal?
Lobster Rolls FTW, Ice-cream, pasta, tacos, I love carbs!!!

Favorite memory at Babylon Crossfit?
“The Thirteen” was one of my favorite moments. It was a long, gruesome workout which took me more than 2 hrs to complete. Emotions were very high that day, and I felt a tremendous amount of pride seeing so many people show up. Everyone usually cheers me on while I’m finishing WODs, but that day stood out the most. I remember everyone standing behind me counting down the number of reps I had left, pushing me past the finish line. I love this extremely supportive community.

If you had a music genre, song, or artist playing in your head at all times what/who would it be?
I like to vibe out to some light jazz music, or basically anything that is a little upbeat or mellow. During WODs, I defer to whatever Matt has playing since his music always hypes me up.

What’s on your DVR/current favorite TV series & favorite Phone app?
– Just finished Squid Game (disturbing), currently watching You Season 3 (also disturbing, but Squid Game was definitely worse)

-Favorite phone app… @thepointsguy came out with their own app (I love earning points, perks, basically maximizing travel rewards). I recently downloaded this crossword puzzle app that keeps me pretty busy and engaged, and helps me stay off social media….. A little…
