Congratulations Mary Hind on being Babylon Crossfit’s Member of the Month for June!

A Word From Our Coaches…

“Mary challenges herself every time and pushes everyone around her to do the same. She comes in with a positive attitude and ready to put in work, and has made significant progress with gymnastics movements. Keep crushing it!!!” – Coach Seb

“Mary is always one of my favorite athletes to see at the gym. Not only is she the calm to the storm of our 6am class but she always listens. She has no problem scaling but also has no issue pushing herself out of her comfort zone. Her progress in movements has not gone unnoticed. In the last few months I think my favorite memory of Mary is her literally on 2 hours of sleep tackling 21.1. She had absolutely zero desire to do it after Jimmy made her go fishing all weekend but showed up at 6am and got it done. Mary I am so happy to have you apart of the bad ass ladies at BC. ” – Coach Trish

About Keston…

Most frequent class time and how many days/week do you Crossfit?
6 am

What was your fitness background before you started at Babylon Crossfit?
I didn’t have much of a fitness background. In high school, I danced competitively for about 12 years. Then after that, I started running, biking, and doing all types of classes like Orange Theory, HIIT, etc.

What accomplishment are you the proudest of (outside and inside of the gym)?
Inside the gym – 140 clean and really any PR with weightlifting. I never really took an interest in the lifting side of CrossFit until recently and I’m starting to like it a lot more.

Outside the gym – starting a new career during COVID and making a lot of progress toward my LCSW.

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?
Egg whites, turkey, spinach & avocado on Ezekiel bread.

What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?
Cooking, paddle boarding, beach and just being on the water.

What do you do for a living?
A social worker at a mental health clinic.

What is one goal that you are currently working on?
In the gym, getting better at gymnastic movements. I would really like to get a muscle-up this year.

Favorite WOD?
Annie, Fran, or any type of chipper/long workout that includes a lot of cardio.

Favorite Cheat Meal?
Chinese food.

Favorite memory at Babylon Crossfit?
The first Murph I ever did, which was only a few months after starting, and what I think kept me to stick with CrossFit. Oh and that time I beat Lenny in a race.

If you had a music genre, song, or artist playing in your head at all times what/who would it be?
Anything 90’s – early 2000’s and country. NOT big booty mix.

What’s on your DVR/current favorite TV series & favorite Phone app?
Currently re-watching sopranos (Jimmy’s choice because I never get a say 🙄). But also just finished watching Yellowstone, which is a top favorite right now.

Any advice for people who are just getting started with CrossFit or maybe too afraid to start?
I feel like in the beginning I would often compare myself to everyone else and how amateur I felt. So, I would say try to focus on yourself, your process, and recognize that everyone was in your shoes at one point.
