Congratulations Keston Hartman on being Babylon Crossfit’s Member of the Month for May!
A Word From Our Coaches…
“Keston is so deserving of member of the month! His energy and excitement in each class is contagious. Keston shows up to EVERY WOD, even when there are movements he doesn’t enjoy. He’s there and puts forth his best effort. He might be one of our younger members, but he inspires and motivates everyone who walks in the door. He’s always cheering people on and encouraging them to keep pushing. As a coach I love watching Keston PR lifts and achieve new skills. He’s come a long way in his CrossFit journey and I think I speak for all of us when I say I can’t wait to watch him to continue to succeed and crush his goals!” – Coach Melissa
“I think he is the perfect choice. He really has shown a lot of improvement and dedication. He has come a long way and even though he’s still young he does as much as he could to get better, something you don’t see from an individual his age. Plus, he’s always staying positive and has a smile no matter what!” – Coach Matt
“Keston is one of the hardest working athletes in the gym and has a lot of fun along the way. We are all guilty of cherry-picking workouts here and there (maybe a little more), but I don’t think Keston does this. I know that he does not enjoy running as much as other movements, but he shows up every workout that has a lot of running – you don’t forget something like that. When I think about classes I am in with Keston, he is a positive person to be around – he is cracking jokes, playing a little air guitar, and laughing. Even though he is one of the younger members of the class he fits in with everyone and adds a lot to the class. Congratulations, Keston!” – Coach OB

What was your fitness background before you started at Babylon Crossfit?
Before I started Crossfit I played recreational ice hockey at the Superior Ice Rink in Kings Park.
What accomplishment are you the proudest of (outside and inside of the gym)?
Inside the gym, my best accomplishment would have to be either double unders or my 1 rep 275lb deadlift PR.
After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?
After a hard workout, I usually end up eating whatever my mom makes me. But if I had to choose, one of the best meals she’s ever cooked was spaghetti bolognese.
What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?
Well being 16 years old, gaming is definitely my favorite pastime.
What do you do for a living?
I am a student at West Islip Senior High School, but on the weekends I work at the Salt Pepper Ketchup deli on Udall road.
What is one goal that you are currently working on?
Definitely pull-ups, but one goal I always have is to get heavier PRs on my Olympic lifts.
Grace, DT, Open workouts 21.2, 21.3, 21.4.
Favorite Cheat Meal?
Mac and cheese pizza from Crispino’s pizza in West Islip.
Favorite memory at Babylon Crossfit?
I don’t have a specific memory that I favor because every time I go I always have fun with my 5 pm crew.
If you had a music genre, song, or artist playing in your head at all times what/who would it be?
I have too many to list them all, but a few on my list are Guns and Roses, AC/DC, Queen, and Brothers of Metal.
What’s on your DVR/current favorite TV series & favorite Phone app?
I don’t really watch TV that often. I’m usually scrolling through TikTok, watching my favorite YouTubers, and watching my favorite live streamers on Twitch.TV.
Any advice for people who are just getting started with CrossFit or maybe too afraid to start?
DO NOT JOIN CROSSFIT YOU WILL BE IN PAIN. I’m kidding. Doing Crossfit is awesome. It’s good for your health and can help you keep a positive mental attitude just like most exercising. Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet with Crossfit because maybe you might need it and just don’t know it.
